The English school in Torquay is a small, independent, family-owned school.
It was opened in 1996 and has a lively, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Students come from over 30 different countries, especially Switzerland, Korea, UAE, Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, Japan and Mexico. This mixture allows you to make new friends from around the world.
The school is very well located, with views over the harbour and bay. It is just 50m from the main shopping street and the harbour, close to restaurants, beaches and nightlife of the city.
It moved to a new building in 2012. The location could not be better, with cafes, shops and restaurants just a few steps away. The impressive building is one of the most emblematic in Torquay and is much bigger than the previous one, with a capacity for more than 280 students.

Torquay is a popular tourist center. It has a population of 60,000 inhabitants and is the largest city in this area. It offers guests a pleasant climate and lush vegetation. It was originally a fishing village, but gradually became a popular vacation spot.
The microclimate of the city is unique in the region and includes up to tropical vegetation. This favourable location makes it one of the most interesting destinations to learn English. 23% of the population is under 20 years old. Remember that the school has its own charter and at the same school sailing lessons are given for all levels.

Along the 22 miles of the coast of the English Riviera there are over 20 beaches and coves.

Those that want to learn and improve their confidence when speaking English, getting to know new friends from around the world, having afternoons free to do activities and excursions.
This course is made up of standard English classes in the morning (20 lessons) plus Intensive English classes in the afternoon (8 lessons) in reduced groups.
The maximum number of students per class in the morning is 12 and in the afternoon is 6, so you have more opportunity to speak.

The intensive course is a combination between the standard course + 8 extra hours. These extra hours per week are to work together with your teachers on the skills that you struggle with the most. The extra classes are adapted to your needs, helping you to learn English and consolidate your understanding of the language.

The course is given by teachers with experience in preparing students for official exams (including an IELTS examiner as a senior teacher), using books that will offer you support and advice before, during and after the exams.
We have a great number of past papers so that you can practice. The price of the course includes taking the exam and the certificate at the end of the course.

there will be work in the afternoons including extra practice texts. We suggest that students attend a minimum of 2 afternoons per week.
These courses are designed to prepare the students for the Cambridge FCE (First) or CAE(Advanced) exams. You will receive detailed information about the exam, advice and specific techniques to pass the exam successfully. The objective of the course is to help you get the best result possible in the exam.

The activity and excursion programme in the school is carefully selected to offer the students an interesting mix of tourist visits, cultural visits, sports and social events to get the most out of the English course. We organise a wide range of supervised activities in the afternoons, evenings and weekends. Participating in the activities is the best way to practice your English and make new friends.

All of the families have been carefully selected to offer you a comfortable and safe environment. Half board is included, which is breakfast and dinner Monday to Friday and full board at the weekends. With the family, you will have a bedroom with enough space for your things, with towels and sheets provided.
